Class Descriptions

Princess Pre-Ballet (ages 2/3) :

Princess Pre-Ballet for ages 2 to 3 years, introduces little ones to the world of dance through the use of imagination and play.  We dance with a variety of props such as hoops, ribbon wand,s and scarves as we teach basic ballet terminology like plié, tendu, and passé. Students also learn primary tumbling with their teacher’s assistance. Princess Dress Up Day is the first class of each month!  We have a large selection of dresses and costumes for our princess ballerinas to choose from. There are currently 7 Princess Pre-Ballet classes throughout the week on the schedule.



Ballet/Tap (ages 3/4):

Ballet/Tap for 3 to 4  years is offered for dancers who have already completed Princess Pre-ballet or are just beginning dance. The first half of class focuses on ballet incorporating basic arm and feet positions, beginning barre work, and some of the activities we love from Princess Pre-Ballet. The second half of class focuses on tap dance. Tap is a dance form where the dancer makes noise with their feet to create unique rhythms and sounds. Students learn basic tap terminology, parts of the foot, and musicality. Princess Dress Up Day is the first class of each month! There are currently 6 Ballet/Tap classes for ages 3/4 on the schedule to choose from.


Special Needs Creative Movement:
At TADA, we believe everyone can dance and should have the opportunity.  Our special needs class is a fun way for children with disabilities to learn ballet, jazz and creative movement in an encouraging, adaptive environment. Parents/ care takers are welcome to attend and participate if needed.

TADA Minis Pom Dance (ages 4+):

Minis Pom is a specialty class for ages 4 and up. Students shake their pom poms and learn choreography to current, kid friendly music. Pom pom dance is a combination of cheerdance, jazz dance, acro, and gymnastics. Dancers are taught to use sharp and snappy arm movements to create clean and precise lines. This visually appealing dance form incorporates many movements like toe touches, turns, and leaps that are helpful in other dance genres like jazz and acro. It is recommended for pom dancers to also take classes involving jazz and/or acro.


Beginning Children’s Irish (ages 4+):

Beginning Children’s Irish 4+ is offered for ages 4 and up and is great for little ones with lots of energy. Your child will hop, skip and jump their way into the world of Irish dancing. Beginning Irish teaches basics of Irish dancing like cuts, threes, sevens, and more which lead to future advanced technique necessary for jigs, reels, and choreographed dances. Dancers are exposed to traditional and contemporary Irish music. Both basic Irish soft shoe and hard shoe are incorporated in this high energy, traditional dance style!


Ballet/Tap (ages 4/5) :
Ballet/Tap for ages 4 to 5 years is offered for dancers who have completed Ballet/Tap for ages 3/4 or students just beginning dance. The first half of class focuses on ballet incorporating arm and feet positions, beginning barre work, jumps, and across the floor. The second half of class focuses on tap dance. Tap is a dance form where the dancer makes noise with their feet to create unique rhythms and sounds. Students learn basic tap terminology, parts of the foot, and musicality while learning to put steps together to perform more intricate choreography. There are currently 4 Ballet/Tap classes for ages 3/4 on the schedule to choose from!


Acro (ages 5+):

Acro (short for Acrobatics) is a dance style which combines the athleticism of acrobatics and gymnastics with the flow and artistry of classical dance. Acro is a specialty class with focus on strengthening core and upper body and stretching the back, shoulders, legs, and hips in order to perform backbends, handstands, cartwheels, and various floor balances. Students taking Acro excel in all other dance forms because of the flexibility and strength required to perform it.


Beginning Irish (ages 6+):

Beginning Children’s Irish 6+ is offered for ages 6 and up and is great for little ones with lots of energy. Your child will hop, skip and jump their way into the world of Irish dancing. The second half of class focuses on tap dance. Tap is a dance form where the dancer makes noise with their feet to create unique rhythms and sounds. Students learn basic tap terminology, parts of the foot, and musicality while learning to put steps together to perform more intricate choreography. There are currently 3 Ballet/Tap classes for ages 5/6 on the schedule to choose from!


Jazz/Tap (ages 5 to 7):

Jazz/Tap for ages 5 to 7 years is offered for dancers who have completed Ballet/Tap for ages 4/5, Ballet/Tap for ages 5/6, or students just beginning dance. The first half of class focuses on jazz dance. Jazz dance is an upbeat and rhythmic dance style which incorporates turns, leaps, jumps, and quick choreography. Students work on strengthening and stretching their bodies to prepare them for future jazz dance work.The second half of class focuses on tap dance. Tap is a dance form where the dancer makes noise with their feet to create unique rhythms and sounds. Students learn basic tap terminology, parts of the foot, and musicality while learning to put steps together to perform more intricate choreography.


Ballet (ages 5 to 7):
Ballet for ages 5 to 7yrs is offered for dancers who have completed Ballet/Tap for ages 4/5, Ballet/Tap for ages 5/6, or students just beginning dance. This 45 minute class incorporates technique mainly from the RAD (Royal Academy of Dance), Cecchetti, and French methods of ballet. Students improve their balance, musicality, agility, range of motion, and muscle strength. Ballet is an essential class for any dancer pursuing practice in lyrical and jazz dance as well.


Beginning Jazz (ages 6+):

Beginning Jazz is offered for students ages 6 and up who have completed one or more of our Ballet/Tap classes or new dancers looking for a fun and energetic class. Jazz dance is an upbeat and rhythmic dance style which incorporates turns, leaps, jumps, and quick choreography. Students work on strengthening and stretching their bodies to prepare them for future jazz dance work.


Boys Hip-hop (ages 6+):

Hip-hop dance in it's true form is danced to hip-hop music and includes breakdancing. Boys hip-hop is a specialty class offered to boys ages 6 and up who have some or no dance experience. This class allows students to experiment with breaking, popping, locking, and classic Bboy moves. Students work on strengthening their bodies to perform freezes, shoulder stands, and floor movements. We always use clean and appropriate music for each age range.


Hip-hop (ages 6+):

Hip-hop dance in it's true form is danced to hip-hop music and includes breakdancing. The hip-hop taught with us is a newer style influenced by jazz dance and incorporates various pop and lock movements, isolations, waves, turns, and acrobatics. This class is fun and energetic, great for experienced and non-experienced dancers ages 6 and up. We always use clean and appropriate music for each age range.


Musical Theatre (ages 6+):
Musical Theatre is a class appropriate for students ages 6 and up with any level of dance experience. If you love musical theatre, you will love dancing to your favorite musical theatre songs, old and new. Focus is on preparing students for musical theatre auditions by teaching terminology and the power of performance. Students frequently learn new choreography to hone in their ability to learn choreography FAST. Don't worry, singing is encouraged!


Ballet/Tap (ages 6/7) :
Ballet/Tap for ages 6 to 7 years is offered for dancers who have completed Ballet/Tap for ages 5/6 or students just beginning dance. The first half of class focuses on ballet with special attention to proper placement and alignment of arm and feet positions, barre work, jumps, leaps and turns as well as ballet terminology. The second half of class focuses on tap dance. Tap is a dance form where the dancer makes noise with their feet to create unique rhythms and sounds. Students learn basic tap terminology, parts of the foot, and musicality while learning to put steps together to perform more intricate choreography.


Beginning Jazz/Lyrical (ages 6 to 9):
Beginning Jazz/Lyrical is offered for students ages 6 to 9 years with dance experience in other genres or students just starting dance. The first half of class focuses on jazz dance. Jazz is an upbeat and rhythmic dance style which incorporates turns, leaps, jumps, and quick choreography. Students work on strengthening and stretching their bodies to prepare them for future jazz dance work.The second half of class is dedicated to lyrical which combines techniques learned in both ballet and jazz. This dance style is expressive with free flowing movement inspired typically by the lyrics within the music. Dancers learn further turns, leaps, jumps, and choreography to add to their dance repertoire.


Ballet/Tap/Jazz (ages 7 to 9 yrs):

Ballet/Tap/Jazz for ages 7 to 9 years is offered for beginning to intermediate dancers looking for a three in one class. The first half of every class is dedicated to ballet and the second half alternates each week between jazz and tap. Ballet is taught with special attention to proper placement and alignment of arm and feet positions, barre work, jumps, leaps and turns as well as ballet terminology. Jazz is an upbeat and rhythmic dance style which incorporates turns, leaps, jumps, and quick choreography. Students work on strengthening and stretching their bodies to prepare them for future jazz dance work. Tap is a dance form where the dancer makes noise with their feet to create unique rhythms and sounds. Students learn tap terminology, parts of the foot, and musicality while learning to put steps together to perform more intricate choreography.


Jazz/Tap (ages 10+):

Jazz/Tap for ages 10 and up is offered for beginning to intermediate dancers. The first half of class is dedicated to jazz. Jazz dance is an upbeat and rhythmic dance style which incorporates turns, leaps, jumps, and quick choreography. Students work on strengthening and stretching their bodies and focus on proper technique. The second half of class centers around tap dance. Tap is a dance form where the dancer makes noise with their feet to create unique rhythms and sounds. Students add to their tap dance vocabulary, demonstrate proper footwork, and learn more intricate rhythmic patterns.


Ballet/Pre Pointe (ages 10+):

Ballet/Pre Pointe for ages 10 and up is a beginner/intermediate class for students wishing to further their ballet practice. It combines ballet technique with strengthening exercises made to prepare dancers for future pointe work. We incorporate technique mainly from the RAD (Royal Academy of Dance), Cecchetti, and French methods of ballet. Students improve their balance, musicality, agility, range of motion, and muscle strength. Ballet is an essential class for any dancers pursuing practice in lyrical and jazz dance as well.


Lyrical (ages 10+):

Lyrical for ages 10 and up is a beginner/intermediate class which combines techniques learned in both ballet and jazz. This dance style is expressive with free flowing movement inspired typically by the lyrics within the music. Dancers learn further turns, leaps, jumps, and choreography to add to their dance repertoire.


Jazz (ages 13+):

Jazz for ages 13 and up is offered to intermediate/advanced dancers. Jazz dance is an upbeat and rhythmic dance style which incorporates turns, leaps, jumps, and quick choreography. Students work on strengthening and stretching their muscles to properly execute each movement. Jazz for 13+ is an intermediate/advanced level class appropriate for dancers with 3 or more years of jazz dance training preferably with ballet training as well.


Tap (ages 13+):

Tap for ages 13 and up focuses on proper footwork and challenges the dancers' ability to perform their tap dancing at quicker speeds. Students will continue learning tap terminology in addition to working on the basics of more advanced movements like pull backs, toe stands, turns, and time steps. Students are preferred at have at least 2 years tap dance experience.


Lyrical (ages 13+):

Lyrical for ages 13 and up is offered to intermediate/advanced dancers. Lyrical is a dance style which combines techniques learned in both ballet and jazz. This dance style is expressive with free flowing movement inspired typically by the lyrics within the music. Dancers learn further turns, leaps, jumps, and choreography to add to their dance repertoire. At least 3 years experience in ballet and jazz is preferred for this intermediate/advanced level class.


Ballet/Pointe (ages 13+):

Ballet/Pointe is offered to students with 5 or more years of ballet experience. We incorporate technique mainly from the RAD (Royal Academy of Dance), Cecchetti, and French methods of ballet. Students advance their balance, musicality, agility, range of motion, and muscle strength. Focus remains on proper alignment and technique. Students interested in pointe work will have to pass a pointe evaluation and assessment and are only granted to start pointe per teacher approval. Students interested in pointe are also required to also take the Monday night Ballet/Pre Pointe class. Ballet is an essential class for any dancer pursuing practice in lyrical and jazz dance as well.


Hip-hop (ages 13+):

Hip-hop dance in it's true form is danced to hip-hop music and includes breakdancing. The hip-hop taught with us is a newer style influenced by jazz dance and incorporates various pop and lock movements, isolations, waves, turns, and acrobatics. Students are preferred to have multiple years of dance experience in various forms because of the quick choreography and strength required to perform the movements. We always use clean and appropriate music for each age range.


Wee Irish Performance Company:

Wee Irish Performance Company is for Irish dancers who have mastered the basics and are ready to learn more advanced choreography. The class requires teacher approval and students must have at least one year of beginning Irish training. Students dance in both soft shoe and hard shoe. These dancers perform at various community events throughout the year as well as our recitals.


Intermediate Irish Performance Company:

Intermediate Irish Company is for intermediate Irish dancers who are ready to learn more advanced choreography. The class requires teacher approval and students must have multiple years of Irish training. Students dance in both soft shoe and hard shoe. These dancers perform at various community events throughout the year as well as our recitals.


Advanced Irish Performance Company:

Advanced Irish Company is for advanced Irish dancers who have shown the skills necessary to perform quicker and more intricate choreography. The class requires teacher approval and students must have multiple years of Irish training. Students dance in both soft shoe and hard shoe These dancers perform at various community events throughout the year as well as our recitals.


Performance Classes (ages 6+):

TADA Performance Company is offered to students ages 6 and up who would like to perform more than just one per year.  These classes incorporate ballet, tap, jazz, acro and lyrical and instructors focus on teaching choreography rather than strictly technique.  It is recommended that our performance dancers take at least one technique class during the week.  Dancers will perform at local events and retirement homes as well as our annual recitals.
